The SLSS 23-24 yearbook cover won first place in the province, competing against over 50 other entries. I co-designed and illustrated the cover alongside my teammate, Yifeiwang. Leading a team of seven editors, I oversaw the entire production of the yearbook. My key responsibilities included:

  • Leadership: Organized and conducted weekly editor meetings, ensuring smooth communication and progress.

  • Photography: Captured high-quality photos at various school events to feature in the yearbook.

  • Design+Illustration: Designed and created the award-winning yearbook cover, Dividers, stickers, icons, and other related materials.

BOOK FLIP THROUGH

Every year, the yearbook team selects a concept or theme to base the yearbook on. This year, the team chose the theme I proposed: "Through the Warps of Time" — where heroes and heroines from across dimensions rise above adversity, forging an unbreakable spirit that transcends the ages.

FINAL RENDER

Through numerous revisions and renders, this award-winning yearbook cover emerged as a true team effort. The yearbook team, as well as our mentor and teacher Mr. P Shin, supported both me and Yifei throughout the creation process of this cover, offering us invaluable feedback and suggestions.

FINAL DESIGN

SPREADS DESIGN AND ORGANIZATION

Every year, editors get assigned sections of the yearbook to work on: departments, clubs, sports, etc. As the editor-in-chief, I have the task of working on two of the 8 sections whilst overseeing the design and layout of all other sections.

THE PROBLEM & THE SOLUTION

We encountered a significant challenge this year: the lack of an immediate feedback system. Working primarily with Adobe InDesign, we couldn't see each other's designs in real-time, often having to wait until our weekly meetings to review the work. To address this issue, I proposed uploading all our finished PDFs to Figma, allowing for real-time collaboration and feedback.

Working on the SLSS 23-24 yearbook has been an incredibly rewarding process. Watching it transform from a simple concept to a physical book carried by more than 800 people is immensely gratifying. This year, we reached the highest sales in our school's history. The journey has not been without its challenges, but overcoming them has made the success even sweeter. I'm proud of what we've accomplished and grateful for the opportunity to lead such a talented and committed group.
